Bannock with Jam and Mint tea: $8.00 per person - Enjoy warm bannock with jam and a cup of Mint tea served right at your site.

We are not equipped with a playground for children. Here nature is your playground. We do have a volleyball net and horseshoe pits located on site. Please respect the nature here. Do not damage it by breaking branches and picking wild flowers or any other flora and fauna.


Pond (Lake Slou-ise): Look for frogs and other water creatures. (Take the Lake Slou-ise trail to get to the pond)



There's approximately 2 km of nature trails to explore.The trails here at the Retreat are a delight for both bird watcher's and nature enthusiast's. In a forest of birch, poplar and spruce, the trails meander through a wooded valley that runs through the property. The "Lake Slou-ise" trail passes by a pond. Here you will most often see ducks and frogs and occasionally, beavers or muscrats. Watch for bat houses and bird houses along the lake Slou-ise trail.

Off Site

From the Retreat, there is access to many excellent destinations for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy.

For the avid golfer, there are numerous golf courses in the area. The closest one is Elk Island National park. We are 3 kilometers from the west gate of the park. Other golf courses include: Legends Golf and Country Club,  Fox Run Golf Course, Northern Bear Golf Club,  Fort In View Golf CourseFort Sask. Golf and Curling Club.

Elk Island National Park is a great way to spend a day! Hiking, biking, canoeing and wildlife viewing are some of the many things to do and see. It is also a chance to see much wildlife, including Alberta's native bison. The park is only five minutes away from the Retreat.

The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village is a living museum and it's a fun way to gain a deeper understanding of this regions history.

Cooking Lake-Blackfoot is ideal for day camping, picnics, hiking, canoeing and many other activities.

Beaverhill Lake is famous for its large population of Snow Geese.

For your shopping needs and other amenites, Bruderheim is 10 minutes north of Elk Island Retreat and the City of Fort Saskatchewan  is only 20 minutes west. If you can't find what you need there, Sherwood Park and Edmonton are approximately 35 minutes away and are sure to have what you're looking for.

Elk Island Retreat is a full service private campground that offers a serene outdoor experience.  We offer comfort camping (glamping) in YURTS,  as well as camping in TIPIS, TRAPPER CABINS, Full Service RV SITES, or traditional TENT camping sites.

We are just a small distance from Elk Island National Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park, Edmonton, Redwater, Gibbons, and St. Albert.
